President Obama declared May 1-7th National Small Business Week, and the theme for 2016 is, "Dream Big, Start Small".
What constitutes a 'small business' can technically change depending on the industry in the United States, but in general, small businesses employee less than 500 people. Small businesses are responsible for creating two-thirds of American jobs annually.
Female-owned businesses employ 7.7 million Americans, which is 40% more people than America's largest employees (McDonalds, IBM and Walmart). Approximately 36% of US small businesses represent female-owned businesses.
If you *are* a small business, we wanted to say YAHOO and THX! If you are dreaming of starting your own business, our advice is, "#JUSTDOIT. Do get some free advice from the Small Business Association! Either way, select a small business to befriend and support; it will mean the world to them!
