TINTORERIA was started by Maria Romero Studio to reduce waste and consumption in the current world of fast fashion. Neutral colored textiles are upcycled into naturally dyed clothes.
TINTORERIA offers a service for consumers to exchange textiles for a plant dyed replacement. Your pre-loved undyed t-shirts, socks, pillowcases, napkins, sweatshirts, jackets, blankets and just about any other textile you may own can be dyed.
TINTORERIA has partnered with community gardens and restaurants who supply them plants and food and waste. As TINTORERIA explains, “We will use this waste to turn your old clothes into a new shade so you can give a second chance to your garments”.
The only requirement that TINTORERIA is that undyed products coming to them must be clean and natural wool, cotton, hemp, silk or any all-natural fiber. Bring or ship your items to TINTORERIA and you can have it shipped back to you, or you may pick up yourself.
Currently, TINTORERIA serves the Brooklyn community. TINTORERIA is “a project from locals to locals. Because community is important. Because we can change the world. Because we can’t waste. Because of you. Because of us.
To help support TINTORERIA, bring your clothes to be dyed, request a group dyeing workshop or purchase from TINTORERIA’s in-stock collection.
