One of madeLOKAL's core principal's is transparency. We ask every manufacturer from whom we purchase to disclose where they source their materials. Products that have 50% or more materials sourced from the USA receive the MAP ICON (see icon left above, which would mean that 100% of the materials were sourced from the USA!).
Regardless of whether an items gets a map icon or not, we notate from where the materials of an item are sourced, to the best of our ability. If a vendor is not able to provide this type of information to us, it would be unlikely we will be working with them long term.
We also have a "ML" ICON, which means that the item was actually cut/sewn/hand stitched in the USA (see icon right above). Product cannot be finished or assembled only to obtain the ML icon, but needs to be made here. Product cannot be on the madeLOKAL website without receiving the ML icon.
Our goal is to only include items on the madeLOKAL site that have both MAP + ML icons, meaning every item would comply with the Federal regulations to meet the "made in America" standard. Until then, we promise to only present you with items that are actually sewn, sculpted or nailed in the USA, but may have significant materials from other countries. Supply will follow if we all continue to demand more locally sourced product. With your help and support, you will see more and more MAP icons.
